Private just went public. Good stuff, Jaffe.
So I sit in my office every day here at ------ ----- and do my little work and provide my work product and then go home and work on more exciting things. I am grateful for my job and the $--,000/ year that I currently earn. It affords me a very modest lifestyle that I very heartily enjoy.
So I am not complaining about the work. And it's a beautiful environment with fruit trees and roses and hillside views of nature. And I have great co-workers that I really like and I will be sad to say goodbye to them when I leave. But I cannot understand the television.
You see there is a 50-inch flat screen in my office that is on everyday. During the March Madness we watched every basket ball game. Awesome. When the U.S. National Team plays, I tune in and follow every goal. Sweet. During the baseball playoffs we were on sports center all day long. Love it.
However, generally speaking it is tuned into Fox News. And today, the cerebrals on Fox news are talking currency. With the Irish situation, everyone is, so I guess they have to try and scoop something too. Of course, the conversation turns to China since they have trillions of dollars that they don't know how to deploy. I'd argue they know how to deploy it, and their deployment is hoarding cash and becoming the most fearsome economic powerhouse of all time, but that is neither here nor there.
...
They accuse the "progressives" that currently hold the U.S. administrative authority with some kind of wrong doing for entering into negotiations and discussions with China on a number of subjects. They say that the "progressives" fool everyone into thinking that is OK because they China is really not a country based upon Communism, rather, they are a country based upon "State Capitalism."
...
The host walks to the chalkboard and this is where I almost threw up from laughing so hard. He has on the chalkboard two columns. There are headings on both columns. The heading on the left reads: "CHINA". The heading on the right reads: "GERMANY". It doesn't take too much head scratching to know where this is going.
Below China, he begins to write "State Capitalism." And then goes into a quick summary to remind those viewers that have forgotten his last 90 seconds of sensibility of why China should be defined as a State Capitalist economic system. And then under Germany he begins to spell out "N-A-T-I-O-N-A-L S-O-C-I-A-L-I-S-M." He then draws what appear to be a series of meaningful arrows and slashes and drops the bomb on his loyal viewership that the Chinese are actually Nazis by another name. Throws in a couple of Hitler parallels and then says, "and our current administration is looking to partner with them."
I recovered from a bout of much needed snorts and bellyaching hoots and then decided for the 187th time that I hate Fox News and needed a private outlet to channel my hate.
