A good man died today. Not anyone who will be on the front of next week's Economist, or even widely known outside his own neighborhood, but a man who was good to his wife, honest in his work, and kind to everyone he met.
He was my next-door neighbor for the last four years, and this was the last time I saw him--two weeks before he succumbed to lung cancer. Nice knowing you, Norm.
